Who can join our community?

We are a professional community of motivated mentees, committed mentors and innovative employers. We bring them together so that they can achieve their professional goals through mutual support, inspiring encounters and targeted networking.

Mentees

Mentees are women who want to develop themselves. Whether they are in the middle of their professional life or at the very beginning, senior or young professionals—they all have one thing in common: They are doers who pursue their professional way individually, cleverly, and with joy. We support them by connecting them with a professionally experienced mentor, and we offer them specialized trainings as well as events & networking for their professional fulfillment.

Mentors

Mentors work on a voluntary basis and with a lot of passion. They share their knowledge, professional experience and contacts with their mentees. They listen to the mentees—their concerns and their wishes—and respond to them in an advisory capacity. They all have at least 5 years of professional experience in an industry and activity. Mentors are an important part of our network and exchange ideas in our community and, like mentees, can use our event offers free of charge.

Employer

As corporate partners of MentorMe, companies and organizations pursue a strategy mix of personnel development & recruiting as well as CSR & diversity. With MentorMe, they support women in their career choices and positioning. They assume social responsibility by opening their doors and sharing professional expertise with our community. They want to promote women and therefore give their employees the opportunity to become mentors.

Mentoring FAQ

What is a mentor?

A mentor is a person with a solid repertoire of professional expertise and professional experience. Mentors help you achieve your career goals by sharing valuable strategies and experiences. They also help to expand the mentee’s professional network and sharpen focus.

Our mentors have at least 5 years of work experience in an industry or professional activity (traineeships and working student activities do not count). When it comes to matching, it is crucial for us that the mentor has more professional experience and knowledge in a profession or industry than the mentee. The age difference or the degree is not important.

What does mentoring mean?

Mentoring is a way to grow professionally. An experienced person (mentor) advises an inexperienced person (mentee) on professional issues. The mentor passes on professional experience, specialist knowledge and contacts to the mentee and is available to her as a sparring partner for her questions.

What is the difference between mentoring and coaching?

Coaching and mentoring are both ways to grow professionally. While mentoring is mostly long-term and based on a relationship between mentor and mentee, coaching is more short-term. A mentor advises based on their own experience, whereas a coach uses certain methods that they have acquired in specific training.

Why should I join this mentoring program?

With mentoring, the mentees want to advance professionally. The mentors, in turn, want to share their professional knowledge “with the next generation”. If the mentee and mentor take responsibility for their roles and tasks, mentoring is the key to the professional success of the mentee and the impact foundation for the mentor.
